Intricate, mysterious series of mixed media artwork by Alvaro Montagna is on view now at 120 Orchard Street, New York, NY 10002.
The Opening event held on May 17 gathered dozens of guests. They were exploring Alvaro’s works with admiration, guess, conversation… The show exhibits nine works ranging in varied sizes averaging 72 x 60 inches. Montagna’s pieces begin with a search in nature, with introspective walks in the woods or fields where Montagna seeks out a specific root formation and captures it with photography.
Back in his studio, he digitally isolates it from its surroundings to reveal the form of his original vision and his discoveries in the process. Individual sections are then separated out, printed, painted and varnished together to create the final piece, much like a mosaic.
The exhibit is on till May 31.
