Show Your World

Do we have one world or billions of different, unique worlds known only to a person who inhabits it?

“One must accept the fact that others don’t see what you do.” – Louise Bourgeois

Artists from 43 countries participated in the International Art Competition “Show Your World” in 2015. In January-2016 hundreds of individual, unparalleled worlds were exhibited at Gallery MC. The Winner, Xiaoxi Kang, and the Finalists sent their original artworks while the work of other participants was demonstrated in a digital format: a big slide show was projected on one of the gallery walls inviting people to view the art from all over the globe.

Workshops and art classes were hosted during the exhibition days, and we thank every artist and art enthusiast who took part in this big social event.  An “Olympics of Art” – this is how our publicist called the exhibition. Art is a non-verbal language understood by people of different mother tongues. It conveys both historical and social facts, lifestyle, inspiration, and feelings. Thus art is an important peacemaking power. We want to create a conversation among artists from various cities and countries, because – as one and only Louise Bourgeois said – “An artist can show things that other people are terrified of expressing”. Join us in 2016 for the next show, more unforgettable meetups, and a great long-lasting inspiration. // Natalie Burlutskaya, curator
