▪️ America’s art world, like its government, is a gerontocracy captured by boomers. Great energy at the Open Studios event @projectstudiosllc - artists, exhibitions, night market 💥 Before every exhibition, there is a bit of hard work to mount it 😊 Making it work for our recent show, Music Journeys. Studio visit with Hadieh Afshani, an Iranian-Australian-American artist whose practice reflects a dialogue between cultural heritage and lived experience. Informed by the depth of ancient Persian traditions and shaped by years of studying and teaching art across three countries, Afshani brings a transnational perspective to her work. Whitney Biennial 2026: a few sound installations including the one about surveillance, by Cooper Jacoby: A very touching exhibition, Immigrant Song, curated by Peter Schelfhaudt at the University of Bridgeport. Stunning work by Rick Shaefer – E Pluribus (CCL) Some unexpected works at the New Museum exhibition, New Humans: El Lissitzky, Francis Picabia, Lavinia Schultz and Walter Holdt, Henrik Olesen (one would rather expect to see them at MoMA). When people ask to describe what’s on now inside the renovated New Museum, it’s hard to explain. Plan about 4 hours to view the ‘New Humans: Memories of the Future’, and we’ll discuss the meaning(s) and message(s).
